You can easily find your way around in Montgomery. Driving may not be the most inspired way to see the downtown area and finding a parking spot can get stressful because of the reconstruction projects. At the Montgomery Area Visitor Center, at Union Station, you can get a free parking pass that will solve your problem and that will permit you to park on Dexter Avenue, in front of the Alabama State capitol.

Montgomery Area Transit Systems provides bus routes across the city and the surrounding area. Downtown, you can take the Lightning Route Trolley, the first electric trolley system in USA, built in 1886.

Montgomery Regional Airport, known as Dannelly Field, has routes to major cities, as well as Montgomery. Visitors usually fly to Birmingham, and use the ground transportation to reach the city. Rental cars and limousine services from the airport are provided, and taxi services are also available. A single taxi journey, from the airport to the downtown area will cost about $20 for one person.
